With the release of patch 2.3.0, players have seen many changes to the way that honor gain occurs in Battlegrounds and most noticeably in Alterac Valley. With these changes has also come some confusion in regard to where honor bonus comes from during holiday weekends as well as how best for players to optimize gaining bonus honor within the battlegrounds. Yep, the madness is spreading. Some guy has just spent almost £5,000 to buy a souped up character off another player in the online roleplaying phenomenon, World of Warcraft.

The character, a rogue, came wielding the much prized Twin Blades of Azzinoth [above], which drop off big baddie Illidan Stormrage from the The Black Temple. As if you didn’t know.

The character also came with four out of five pieces of a Tier 6 armor set, as well as lots of other goodies. The unhinged buyer’s in-game name is Shaks but there may be a problem getting to play with his sharp new toys.

Selling anything from the game-world in the real world for real cash is frowned on by game-maker Blizzard and, rumour has it, his account has already been banned. Wow, £5,000 down and no one to kill.-Martin Lynch

Today I received information from Blizzard that character name changing is coming to European World of Warcraft players sometime in the very near future, there is only one disappointing clause to this great new addition and that is the fact they are also including a fee of £6.00 or €8.00.

I don’t think that players should be charged for a simple name change, I think there should be a limit on how many name changes you are allowed within a specific period of time.

Anyway, if you want to change your name then you simply log in to your account via the official World of Warcraft website and you will see on your account screen the option to change a characters name.

The new patch will be applied tonight, there are some nice additions coming in the patch including guild banks, daily quests, new flying mounts and a ton more, here is a list of some of the changes in a little more detail.

Zul’Aman Patch

The next major content patch for World of Warcraft, The Gods of Zul’Aman, will add an impressive array of new challenges, features, changes, and rewards to World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade.

Zul’Aman is a 10-person raid dungeon located in the Ghostlands, with enemies and spoils that pick up where Karazhan leaves off. This outdoor raid dungeon is home to the vicious Amani forest trolls and their leader, the infamous Zul’jin. You and your band of heroes will battle the dungeon’s six bosses, including four avatars of Zul’Aman, each bearing the aspect of a different ferocious creature. Zul’Aman also features a challenging bonus reward structure based on completing certain objectives within a time limit, which will provide an extra level of challenge – and thrills – for seasoned raid groups.

The other defining characteristic of The Gods of Zul’Aman is the bounty of rewards, both material and intangible, that it offers many types of players. The powerful epic items found in Zul’Aman are just the beginning. There is a host of new purchasable rewards as well, from the gladiator rewards of Arena Season 3, to the dozens of new Badge of Justice rewards and the full set of new Honor rewards. There are also more useful and fun items such as the new Flying Machine flying mounts, which can be built and operated by skilled engineers. Among the more abstract benefits to players are faster leveling to 60, the revamping of Dustwallow Marsh with new quests, new daily quests for dungeons and battlegrounds, and many class balance changes. This is just a sampling of the bounty that awaits in The Gods of Zul’Aman.

The new World of Warcraft 2.2.3 is being applied today, it is only a small patch and is for a few bug fixes.

- Clients utilizing OpenGL video modes will no longer experience graphical anomalies and missing textures after minimizing/maximizing the window.

- Fixed an issue that caused Fel Eye Stalks during the Legion Ring event to not despawn when the event is completed.

- Fixed an issue where zoning after mounting and summoning a pet was disconnecting players.

- Fixed an issue where the Shift key would get stuck in game.

- Using a /equip macro while affected by certain crowd control spells will no longer cause the items in the macro to be stuck in your inventory.

- Using very low values for SetScale() will no longer cause Mac users to disconnect from the game.

- Default sound channels have been changed from 12 to 32.

- Microphone resources will no longer be claimed by World of Warcraft when Voice Chat is disabled.

- Sounds will no longer stutter and pause if large amounts of creatures are being hit with AoE attacks from multiple sources.

- Sounds caused by spells cast on or by the player will now play more consistently.
